About James Spencer. A calm, thoughtful, theological voice helping God’s people live with uncompromising faith.

James Spencer is a theologian, author, and speaker committed to equipping Christians to live with uncompromising faith in a world that rewards compromise. As the founder of Verum Seminary and host of the Thinking Christian Podcast, James helps believers bridge the gap between theology and life—offering accessible, seminary-level reflection on what it means to follow Christ in the modern world.

As President of the D.L. Moody Center, he also leads initiatives designed to renew the church’s focus on faithfulness, formation, and the authority of God’s Word. His teaching and writing—rooted in biblical theology and pastoral experience—invite Christians to think deeply, act wisely, and embody the gospel wherever they are.

James is the author of several books, including Christian Resistance: Learning to Defy the World and Follow Christ and Serpents and Doves: Christians, Politics, and the Art of Bearing Witness. His work explores topics such as the Christian mind, technology and transhumanism, media, Christians and politics, and discipleship, as well as addressing various biblical and theological topics.

Speaking and Media

James’ work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, FoxNews.com, American Thinker, and the Christian Post. He has also appeared on various podcasts, broadcasts, and live events.

In an age when digital platforms reward outrage and sensationalism, James Spencer offers a different voice—one marked by theological depth, clarity, and faithfulness. His speaking and media work flow from the Christian First framework, which encourages believers to develop a deeply formed theological imagination and the discernment needed to navigate a fractured world.

Through thoughtful engagement with topics such as politics, technology, media, and cultural narratives, James helps Christians move beyond reactionary responses to consider how Scripture shapes our understanding of reality itself. His teaching invites audiences to see that faithful engagement begins not with cultural commentary but with a renewed mind grounded in God’s truth.

Rather than chasing trends or providing quick takes, James cultivates space for reflection and wisdom. He equips believers to think carefully and act courageously—embodying calm conviction, humility, and patience as they bear witness to Christ in an anxious and distracted world.
