Thinking Christian began as a podcast—hosted by James Spencer, PhD—designed to help believers think theologically about life, culture, and discipleship. What started as a weekly conversation about faith and practice has grown into a broader educational ecosystem dedicated to helping Christians deepen their knowledge of Scripture, strengthen their theological understanding, and grow in spiritual formation.

Today, Thinking Christian serves as the media and learning arm of Verum Seminary, making seminary-level study accessible to anyone, anywhere. Through audio, video, print, and AI-enhanced resources, Thinking Christian bridges the gap between academic theology and everyday faith. It’s for pastors who need continuing education, believers longing for depth, and anyone who wants to learn to live Christianly in every sphere of life.
At the heart of Thinking Christian is a conviction: discipleship isn’t about balance—it’s about uncompromising devotion to the Triune God. Our goal is to help God’s people think deeply, live faithfully, and bear witness to the truth in a world that often pulls them in the opposite direction.
A calm, thoughtful, theological voice challenging God’s people to be think Christian.

Thinking Christian affirms the historic, orthodox Christian faith as revealed in the Old and New Testaments. We confess the triune nature of God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and the authority of the Bible as the inspired, infallible word of God and final authority for life and faith.
We affirm the following core doctrines:
We also recognize the value of historic creeds and confessions such as the Nicene Creed, while maintaining our identity as an evangelical institution committed to biblical authority and gospel-centered formation.
